Do I need a backup plugin?

When you have your site with SixFive, no, you do not need an extra plugin to backup your site.

Why Backup plugins are inherently flawed.

This is because they require the security and integrity of your Wordpress site to be 100% functioning correctly.

Let's say for example a hacker gains access to your site, the first thing they would do is look for a security plugin and whitelist themselves, and then they would disable backups to prevent their code being overwritten.

More plugins in Worpdress also means more maintenance, and more code means a slower site.

How do we backup our site?

When your site is hosted with SixFive Managed WordPress Managed Hosting we take a backup of it every night, and store it off-site. The server also gets backed up once a week.

For our Care Plan clients we backup your site once every hour, so if anything goes wrong we can get you back up and running quickly, with very little lost data.

All this is done via our infrastructure and has no bearing on WordPress being configured and working correctly. Therefore no matter the state of Wordpress (e.g. bas plugin update, hacked, or slow) your backups are always working.
