General migrations questions

Migrating content from your Google account to another Google account can take some time and has some things you will need to be aware of. Let's dive into some of these and what the process looks like.

How long will the migration take?

This depends on how much data there is. We physically migrate data from one place to another. To give you a rough guide, 10Gb of data takes about 24 hours to move, several factors change this, such as lots of small files will proceed quicker and lots of large files will take longer.

Will all my files be exactly the same?

The folder hierarchy will be the same, with one caveat below - see Orphans. In some cases, you may find Word documents in place of Google Docs, or Excel in place of Google Sheets. This depends on the source files, where they are coming from and so one. You can easily convert these back to Google docs (we don't do this automatically because it can be a destructive process).
